Signs and Symptoms of Diabetes

Diabetes affects approximately 346 million people worldwide. Many of those affected do not even know they suffer from the disease. One of the best ways to ensure proper health is to learn the signs and symptoms associated with diabetes. The following article will discuss the most common signs and symptoms. If you experience any of these symptoms, talk with your physician about your risk of developing the disease.

One of the most common symptoms of diabetes is frequent urination. Frequent urination means that you urinate more often than normal or you have sudden urges to urinate. Although there are many causes for frequent urination, it has also been associated with diabetes. Frequent urination, along with several of the other symptoms, should be followed by a prompt visit to your family physician.

Excessive thirst goes hand in hand with frequent urination. If you suffer from diabetes, you will normally suffer with frequent urination caused by the excess glucose in your blood. Your kidneys work harder to process the extra sugar which in turn makes you urinate more frequently. This results in dehydration to your body which in turn causes excessive thirst. If you suffer from frequent thirst, a visit to your physician is in order.

Changes in weight can be a sign of diabetes. Weight loss that happens suddenly without any change to your diet or exercise routine can be a sign that something is going on within your body. Any type of sudden or unexpected weight loss warrants a trip to your doctor.

Fatigue is another common symptom associated with diabetes. This is not normal fatigue from exercising. This fatigue occurs while trying to perform your normal day to day tasks. It can also be said that diabetes fatigue affects not only the person suffering with diabetes, but also affects the entire family. Most sufferers require extended periods of rest to help combat fatigue. While others wake up feeling exhausted before beginning their day.

Diabetes can lead to neuropathy. A condition which affects the nerves in the body’s extremities. When neuropathy occurs the extremities seem to go numb. The most common complaint with neuropathy is loss of feeling or tingling in the hands and feet. If you suffer from this, it is important to seek help immediately for proper diagnosis.

Many times, diabetes is diagnosed because of sudden changes in vision. Manifestations of problems of the eyes may include infections, styes, boils, double vision and recurrent redness. Diabetic sufferers may also experience difficulty in focusing on objects, night blindness and frequent changes in eyeglass prescriptions. Any of these signs should immediately be discussed with your primary care physician.

Another sign of diabetes includes excessive bruising. Most often, bruising associated with diabetes occurs in the skin folds of the armpit, neck or groin. This is caused by excess insulin in the skin.

Frequent infections are also a symptom of diabetes. If you notice that you are getting more illnesses than are normal, you should visit your physician to rule out diabetes as the culprit.

As stated in this article, there are many signs and symptoms associated with diabetes. By learning the warning signs, you can help protect your body by getting a proper diagnosis of diabetes quickly.

Popular Gout Home Remedies

Gout is a painful kind of arthritis mostly associated with high levels of uric acid in the blood. Gouty arthritis appears when the uric acid in the blood builds up in joints, causing pain and inflammation. Medical science has developed its treatment methods for gout via medicines, physiotherapy, and surgery.

However, a number of gout home remedies are also known to be effective in preventing gout and relieving its inflammation. Common gout home remedies include the use of certain fruits, natural vegetative products, herbal extracts, and treatment with natural herbs.

Fruits

Many gout home remedies are quite enjoyable as they simply consist of eating fruits. Eating a couple of apples, preferably one after each meal, is an easy way of preventing gout. Serving oneself bananas as diet for up to four days in close succession helps relieve gouty inflammation. Eating cherries daily has been widely found effective in controlling gouty arthritis. Strawberries too are considered by some people as a possible cure for gout.

Juices

Several gout home remedies consist of drinking juices of fruits and other natural plant products. The most popular of these is lemon juice, taken three times daily. Its preparation is simple and quick: mixing the juice of half a lemon in a glass of water. Similarly, drinking cherry juice has been found effective against gout.

Most health food stores stock pure cherry concentrate, which is also very useful for preventing/treating gout. Another health-friendly juice good for gouty symptoms is that of French beans (also known as String beans); half a cup of this juice should be taken daily for its effective action against gout.

Garlic

Garlic is a natural remedy for many illnesses and it is also listed as one of the tried gout home remedies. One should eat two cloves of raw garlic daily to check the symptoms of gout. Still better is to drink the minced garlic cloves (instead of chewing solid garlic) mixed in water or fruit juice.

Other Gout Home Remedies

A number of natural herbs and herbal teas serve as effective gout home remedies. The pain and inflammation caused by gout can be relieved by applying tea made of elm leaf to the gouty area of the body. Applying comfrey tea to the affected area also helps in alleviating inflammation.

One easy remedy for aiding the healing process among gouty patients is taking capsules containing sunflower extract. Also effective against gouty pain and inflammation is the Devil’s Claw that is a natural sedative and anti-inflammatory agent.
